22 May 2009 - Rodney District Mayor Penny Webster says that she is absolutely delighted with the decision to appoint former Rodney Mayor John Law as one of five members of the Auckland Transition Agency.

"John will bring a wealth of local government experience and common sense to what will be a challenging and complex position," says Rodney Mayor Penny Webster.

"Most importantly for the local community, he knows Rodney and understands the issues facing our District. It is extremely pleasing that he has been appointed to such an influential position."

John Law served as the Mayor of Rodney from 2001 until his retirement in 2007.

Mayor Webster has also welcomed the news that Watercare Services CEO Mark Ford will chair the Transition Agency. "Mark has a good understanding of infrastructure and that will be vitally important in his role."

The other members of the Auckland Transition Agency are: Miriam Dean, QC, John Waller - Chairman of the Bank of New Zealand, and company director and former Chair of Maori Television Wayne Walden.
