"They are bloody well here"
Auckland, 1 April 2009 - About a year ago Gull asked, "Where the Bloody Hell are you?" of the oil giants with relation to biofuels.
Gull now extends its congratulations to Mobil as the first oil company to move into retailing biodiesel at two Bay of Plenty outlets.
"Great work," notes Karl Mischewski, Gull Sustainability Champion. "Our understanding is that Mobil's biodiesel is made from sustainable sources. This is a very positive move for the oil industry and for the Kiwi motorist."
Gull was the first company to retail biofuel in New Zealand, launching its 98 octane Gull Force 10 almost two years ago. This fuel is now available at all Gull outlets and has been joined at selected sites by Gull Regular plus, a 91 octane bioethanol blend.
Mischewski continues, "Sustainable biofuels are great; they are renewable, better for the environment and acceptable to almost all modern engine types. Companies not encouraging the use of sustainable biofuels really need to have a hard look at how they operate. Energy alternatives are vital going forward and it is very encouraging to see Mobil follow Gull's lead."
