Gun-Toting Teens Rob Shop Of Ice Cream

Wellington, May 30 NZPA -Police are hunting a gang of armed teenagers who burst in to a west Auckland takeaway shop last night and escaped with ice creams from the freezer.

The gang, including up to three girls, threatened Ranui Food Bar and Takeaway owner Yunan Zheng with a gun and a hammers just as the store was closing up at 9pm.

Mr Zheng told the Herald on Sunday that a girl wearing a cap and hoodie pulled over her face pointed a gun at him as he vacuumed the front of the shop.

She ordered him 'Hurry up, give us some money'," he said.

Two others brandishing hammers then rushed into the shop and filled backpacks with icecreams from a freezer.

One tried to take cash from the till but was unable to open the drawer.

The group was caught on security camera, but wore hoods pulled over their head, and scarves or T-shirts wrapped around their faces.

Police said later that they were following up good lines of inquiry.
