Head on crash in Western Bay of Plenty

Emergency Services are currently at a serious car v car head on crash on State Highway 33, Paengaroa, Western Bay of Plenty.

This occurred at 5.30 pm.

One male was initially trapped in their car had to be extracted by the Fire Service.

He is listed as Status 1, with life threatening injuries.

Two other males involved are listed as Status 2, with serious but not life threatening injuries.

State Highway 33 is fully blocked at this time.

Diversions have been put in place at State Highway 33 / Maniatutu Road and State Highway 33 and State Highway 2.

Inspector Tony Wakelin has asked for patience from motorists.

Emergency services will be working to clear the Highway as soon as is possible but there will be lengthy delays until the scene is clear.
