Wellington, Aug 3 NZPA - An Auckland health support worker has been arrested on mutiple charges, including threatening to kill, abduction and sexual violation, after a lengthy investigation by police.
The alleged offences occurred across the Auckland region going back to January 2007, Waitemata police crime services manager Detective Inspector Bruce Scott said.
The 41-year-old Glen Eden man would appear in Waitakere District Court later today charges with 18 offences relating to six complainants, he said.
Of those, 15 charges related to four female complainants who were aged between 13 and 17.
The charges included abduction, assault with intent to commit sexual violation, sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, indecent assault, burglary, threatening to kill and attempted abduction.
Mr Scott said today's arrest was a significant development in the investigation.
"There might well be other young women who now wish to speak to police about their interactions with this man who, on one occasion in November last year, allegedly posed as a truancy officer for North Shore and West Auckland," Mr Scott said.
