Wellington, March 20 NZPA - Some towns in heartland New Zealand will play host to the controversial Boobs on Bikes parade next month.

Pornographer Steve Crow is planning to hold the event in Palmerston North, Levin and Whanganui on April 23, the Manawatu Standard reported.

The parade will herald Mr Crow's Erotica Expo, to be held in Palmerston North over Anzac Weekend, which has angered opponents who have complained the remembrance weekend should not be shared with erotica.

Mr Crow said holding the Expo over Anzac Weekend was a matter of necessity, rather than choice.

"The Palmerston North Convention Centre was not available at any other time. That was the only weekend we could get it."

He said most people had no problem with the expo, citing the 13,000 people who attended the Palmerston North shows in 2005 and 2007.

"You've got a very vocal minority who get up in arms about anything," Mr Crow said.
