The second annual Hospital to Hospital Charity Bike Ride from Kenepuru Hospital to Wellington Hospital via Johnsonville, Makara and Island Bay (52kms) was another success. Held in good weather on Sunday almost 300 cyclists set off on their ride from Kenepuru Hospital to Wellington Hospital. Funds raised will go towards Wellington Children's' Hospital redevelopment appeal said Bill Day Chair of Wellington Hospitals & Health Foundation. "This is the second year of this charity Bike ride and today's success means it will now be a key annual feature of Wellingtons cycling calendar" 123 volunteers acted as marshals along the course route and the riders were lead by a police escort and Wellington Free Ambulance - there were no accidents and everyone arrived at Wellington Hospital safely. The youngest rider was 12 and the oldest 80 said Bill Day. Dr Blair Leslie was first home in 1hour and 23 minutes. The last rider crossed the finish line taking three hours and 16 minutes. The riders were set on their way by "Hosp"i the hospitals mascot lion. The funds raised will go towards supporting the 4,500 Sick Kids who become patients at Wellington Children's Hospital each year
