Christchurch police are appealing for information from the public after an aggravated robbery in the suburb of Redwood on Friday night.
Detective Sergeant Mark Reid says three offenders entered Coasters Tavern in Daniels Road shortly after 11.00pm on Friday as the bar was closing down.
"At the time there were five patrons and the barman inside the premises," says Detective Sergeant Reid.
"Two of the offenders were armed with firearms, and the third with a crow bar. All the occupants were forced to lie down while the offenders emptied out the safe, tills and pokie drawer.
"Fortunately no shots were fired and nobody was injured, but this was a very unsettling experience for the victims."
Detective Sergeant Reid says the offenders fled on foot, making off with an undisclosed sum of cash.
"We are appealing to anybody who was in the vicinity of Daniels Road, near the Redwood shops, around 11.00pm on Friday night, who may have seen any suspicious activity.
"In particular we are looking for any sightings of three people in the area. Two offenders were reported to be wearing black clothing, while the third was wearing blue overalls."
