Long-range forecaster Ken Ring says that the seismic activity around central North Island and White Island was warned of two days ago on website

There's a total solar eclipse coming past the North island in November which will black out much of the morning. This will happen on 14th at 10.30am about 1100 miles off to our northeast. There is nothing to worry about, it's just an eclipse, but extreme weather or an event like an earthquake or eruption is typical within a few months either side. However it is impossible to determine exactly where and when and how big an event we might get.
Geonet admits they have been monitoring increased seismic activity there for several weeks and didn't give people any warnings - and they are paid by the government.
