The Tourism Industry Association (TIA) and the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) are pleased to invite you to the launch of a pilot project to improve the energy efficiency of New Zealand tourism businesses.

The Tourism Energy Efficiency Programme (TEEP) will be launched at the Christchurch Top Ten Holiday Park from 1.30-3pm on Thursday 31 July.

The environment is New Zealand's key tourism product, one of the main reasons that international visitors come here and also important in domestic travel.

TEEP is a pilot programme which offers a strong incentive for tourism businesses to participate in energy savings to help conserve our natural environment as well as saving on electricity and fuel costs. Participating businesses receive a detailed energy audit at approximately half the normal price. The audit identifies potential dollar and energy savings for the businesses. The businesses also receive free mentoring and assistance in implementing energy saving opportunities.

TEEP will be launched by Government Spokesperson, Energy Efficiency and Conservation Jeanette Fitzsimons and TIA Chief Executive Tim Cossar. The launch will be followed by lunch and a tour of the holiday park.

A detailed media release will be issued on the morning of the launch.
