Wellington, June 22 NZPA - Extradition proceedings to return a Christchurch man to his native Poland have been allowed to continue while he appeals his removal.

Slawomir Bujak has fought a decade-long battle to avoid being sent home.

Authorities there say he is a multimillion-dollar fraudster, while Mr Bujak has said he was being targeted for his political beliefs after standing unsuccessfully for Parliament.

In a decision released today, the Court of Appeal refused Mr Bujak's appeal to put a stay on the extradition orders pending his appeal.
