Wellington, March 10 NZPA - A man is being treated for broken bones and a severe head injury after apparently falling from a first story balcony in Auckland this evening.

Police were called to a Point England address, east of the central city, about 6.45pm and an ambulance transported the man to Auckland Hospital.

CIB staff are investigating the circumstances, talking to two men present at the time.

No arrests have been made at this point.
