Auckland, Nov 2 NZPA - Police have named the man found dead in a South Auckland car park early yesterday.
Savelio Uati Peauvasa, a 43-year-old from Glen Eden in West Auckland, was found in the car park at the Otara Shopping Centre in the early hours of Sunday.
A 33-year-old man was due to appear in Manukau District Court today charged with assault.
Detective Senior Sergeant Pete Jones has said more serious charges were likely to follow.
Police were expected to seek a two-week remand when the accused man appeared in court, and Mr Jones said it was unlikely further charges would be laid until that date.
He said police were still keen to speak to any witnesses to the incident which led to Mr Peauvasa's death.
