Auckland, May 25 NZPA - Auckland Unitec student Bio O'Brien, accused of the manslaughter of an elderly man after an alleged road rage incident has been remanded in custody for a pre-deposition hearing in July.
O'Brien, 27, from the central Pacific island group of Tuvalu, appeared in Auckland District Court today, charged for the first time with the manslaughter of Jasmatbhai Patel, 78, on Carrington Road, Mount Albert, in Auckland on April 8.
At his previous appearance O'Brien was charged with assaulting Mr Patel, who died later in hospital.
O'Brien was remanded in custody until July 2.
