The Steve Price Night of Courage funrazor head shave team has been given a superstar boost with All Black Player of the Year Jerome Kaino and TV and music personality Megan Alatini joining the lineup.

Alatini has confirmed she will be the first woman to join Price at the shave station at the Steve Price Night of Courage at Alexandra Park on Friday, March 2nd.

The former True Bliss, NZ Idol judge and Dancing with the Stars runner up has just arrived back from living in Japan for three years and has made the brave commitment to losing her trademark locks to support the Child Cancer Foundation.

"Hair is really my thing, my whole family's thing, but I feel really strongly about helping the Child Cancer Foundation - it is something I really want to do and I am so excited," Alatini says.

Kaino has a personal connection to the Foundation. Sadly an extended family member passed away from child cancer last year. Kaino will shave his head the night before the event as he will be in Hamilton on March 2nd playing for the Blues against the Chiefs in a Super 15 match. The shave will be videoed and played on the night.

Radio Sport personality D'Arcy Waldegrave, who is growing a beard for the occasion to shave as well, rounds out the celebrity funrazor derby team.

Child Cancer ambassador and One News presenter Bernadine Oliver-Kerby will MC the evening. Guests will include fellow ambassador Amanda Billing and other Shortland St stars.

The celebrity shavers will be joined by three generous Dads who all have children on the child cancer journey.

Murray Hogarth, from Remuera, has already been pledged $10,000, with a month to go, to shave his head on the night. Murray's son Matthew was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma bone cancer in his left leg in March 2010 and has been through nine months of chemotherapy and received a donor bone from the USA.

Whitford's Noel Rowse's 15-year-old daughter Courtney was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and has been through 24 chemotherapy treatments with four to come. Noel is already well past his $2,000 goal, having raised over $7,000.

Scott Bartley, from Mangere Bridge, started fundraising a week ago and is at over $2,500. His daughter Ella was diagnosed with a brain tumour larger than an egg when she was two. Most of the tumour was removed by surgery and now Ella is four and doing well, but part of the tumour is still there and she is likely to need more surgery.

The evening will also feature live and silent auctions and all the entertainment of Alexandra Park's harness racing. As well as being the opening event for Auckland Cup Week, the night also launches the Child Cancer Foundation's National Appeal Month.

The Foundation is aiming to raise $1 million during March to support children with cancer and their families. Three children are diagnosed with cancer each week in New Zealand and collectively undergo a total of 100,000 treatments and procedures annually. The Child Cancer Foundation aims to reduce the impact of cancer by offering support services 365 days of the year, ensuring children and their families are supported, informed and well cared for at every stage of their journey.

Tickets are $110 per person which includes dinner and wine/beer beverages. The evening will be held in Alexandra Park's elite Tasman Room. To secure your ticket ph 09 630 5660. Or visit www.alexpark.co.nz
