Auckland, Oct 15 NZPA - Two men charged with the burglary of war medals made a brief appearance in court this afternoon.

The duo, aged 39 and 37, both appeared in Auckland District Court charged with stealing the medals from the Waiouru Army Museum last year.

Granted interim name suppression, they did not enter a plea and were remanded in custody for a week.

The 96 medals-- including nine Victoria Crosses --- granted to 12 New Zealanders were taken in a overnight raid on the museum in December last year.

All the medals were returned intact in February this year after a $300,000 reward was paid out.
