Clutha District Council regrets to advise that the Milton swimming pool remains closed at present due to the construction of the new changing rooms falling behind schedule.
Chief Executive Charles Hakkaart said the contract awarded for the project had been based on 14-week construction period which should have seen the pool reopened before Christmas 2011.
However, Mr Hakkaart said a number of issues had arisen which meant the project had fallen behind schedule, and needed to be resolved before the pool could be opened to the public.
"Council staff have been working over the recent holiday period to progress these outstanding issues.
"We appreciate that this will be extremely frustrating for regular pool users and Council apologies for the inconvenience caused."
At this stage it is expected that the pool will be opened in February 2012.
