US Tourists Rescued From Spooners Range

2 American tourists were flown to Nelson hospital at 1321 today 28/12/2010 by the Summit Rescue Helicopter.

The pair both travelling in the same car were heading South on SH6 just past Spooner's Saddle. They collided with another car heading in the opposite direction.

Both were trapped in the vehicle and had to be cut free by the Fire Service. They were treated by St John Advanced Paramedic at the scene. After receiving emergency treatment for multiple injuries they were transported on the Summit Rescue Helicopter. The occupants of the other vehicle were uninjured.

The weather at the scene was windy and the roads appeared to be dry.
