A new website to help people connect with agencies that could help them with disputes or investigate their complaints was launched today by the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Hon Heather Roy.

In an innovative public/private sector initiative, the Disputes Investigation Group has cooperated to set up a convenient website where people who have concerns with business or government can easily locate the right assistance to help look into their problem.

Electricity and Gas Complaints Commissioner, Judi Jones says, "Many organisations help consumers with their rights under legislation and codes of practice and have a role in disputes investigation and resolution. Complaintline provides a central point of information about who those organisations are and what they do."

"People can find the appropriate agency they need by using the category list. For example, if you are having problems accessing personal information, you would be directed to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner's website," says Ms Jones.

The following organisations are part of www.complaintline.org.nz: Advertising Standards Authority, Banking Ombudsman, Broadcasting Standards Authority, Charities Commission, Commerce Commission, Consumer Affairs, Consumer NZ, Domain Name Commission, Electricity & Gas Complaints Commission, Health & Disability Commissioner, Human Rights Commission, Independent Police Conduct Authority, Insurance & Savings Ombudsman, Ombudsman, Press Council, Privacy Commissioner, Quality Commission Scheme, Telecommunication Dispute Resolution.
