No new fruit fly detections

Today MPI and AsureQuality have had approximately 72 staff performing various tasks such as monitoring of traps and fruit analysis. This figure also includes Six AsureQuality staff that were at the Avondale market today.

There have been no new detections to date of the fruit fly and no adverse reaction from trading partners.

MPI are grateful for the community's support in this response and for the offers of assistance for language translation.

Number of traps: Zone A - 80, Zone B - 336. An additional 1,000 traps are in place in the 10km zone surrounding the Controlled Area which is part of the routine fruit fly surveillance programme. MPI will review the Controlled Area notice and current restrictions next week. Controls will remain in place over the weekend. The earliest that the Controlled Area notice and restrictions would be lifted is Saturday 26 May.
