Wellington, May 6 NZPA - One of the two men accused of murdering a 64-year-old Upper Hutt man was further remanded in custody when he appeared in Upper Hutt District Court today.

Upper Hutt men David Shaun Galloway, 18, and Phillip Christopher Sanders, 41, were last week charged with the murder of Richard Milton Jones.

Interim name suppression for all three men lapsed today.

In court today Galloway applied for bail but it was declined and he was remanded in custody until May 12.

Sanders was also due to reappear on May 12.

Mr Jones was found dead in his flat in Totara Park Rd in Upper Hutt last Wednesday after police received calls about a disturbance.

Police and fire service staff performed CPR on Mr Jones, but he died at the scene.
