1 SEP 2008 - Porirua Police are looking for three men who attacked and robbed a pizza delivery man in Cannons Creek last Saturday night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam, Porirua CIB, said the 34-year-old delivery man was hit on the head with a bottle, knocked to the ground and threatened.

"The offenders stole the pizza, the very small amount of cash he was carrying on him, and then stole his car keys and car which was later found burnt out near the boatsheds at the southern end of Titahi Bay.

"This was a despicable attack on a young man who arrived in New Zealand from China six years ago," Detective Senior Sergeant Oxnam said. "He was a hard working young man who relied on his car and several years of part time pizza delivery work to fund his way through study for an information technology degree at Whitireia Polytechnic."

He said the attack happened shortly before 11pm when the pizza delivery driver was sent to an address in Bedford Street, Cannons Creek, near the Mungavin Avenue corner.

The order turned out to be a hoax one and the delivery driver was attacked as he walked up the steps.

The attackers left in the victim's green 1994 Nissan Sentra 5-door hatch which was abandoned in a burnt out state at Titahi Bay beach around 2.25am on Sunday.

Police say the victim managed to stumble to the Cannons Creek shopping area where he sought help. He was treated at hospital for cuts and bruises to his head.

Police are appealing for sightings of the Nissan car - registration UI 3120.

If you have information about the robbery, were in the Cannons Creek shops or Bedford Street area around 11pm on Saturday, and if you saw the green Nissan Sentra UI 3120 being driven around the Porirua area, then please contact Porirua Police on 04 238 1401.
