Police Appeal For Robbery Witnesses

24 June 2009 - Porirua Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery of a 73 year old woman in Cannons Creek.

The robbery occurred at about 10pm on Tuesday 23 June in the Porirua suburb.

Detective Constable Sarah Waugh of Porirua CIB says that the victim was returning to her daughter's home after a night playing 'Housie' at the Cannons Creek Hall.

A male approached the victim in the alleyway between Astrolabe Street and Warspite Avenue in Cannons Creek and pushed her to the ground.

The male grabbed the victim's handbag and took a small amount of money. He then returned the bag to the victim and ran off.

The male is described as: Caucasian, 50-60 years of age, with a moustache and wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and a white wristwatch.

Police are appealing for any sightings of a male matching this description in and around the Cannons Creek area, at about 10pm on Tuesday, 23 June 2009.
