Hamilton Police investigating a violent, cowardly attack on a sole male service station attendant in the City early Tuesday morning are appealing for information on the attackers identities.
Detective Paul Van Der Zee of the Hamilton CIB said two men managed to force their way into the Caltex service station on Avalon Dr about 2am after the sole-charge male attendant allowed another man into the store to use an ATM machine.
"It turns out the pair were associates of the man wanting to use the money machine and the trio proceeded to punch and kick the attendant before fleeing the store with quantities of Holiday brand cigarettes and cigars.
"A fourth man was unable to gain entry before the doors closed."
Mr Van Der Zee said one offender was wearing a distinctive blue and black swandri while another had a surgical bandage wrapped around his left hand.
"This sought of attack can't be allowed to go unpunished, what we're asking is for people to reflect how they would feel if it was their sibling or child attacked and if they do know something to contact us."
Anyone with any information on the identities of those responsible for the robbery is asked to contact Mr Van Der Zee at the Hamilton Central Police station on 07 858 6200. Alternatively information can be left anonymously on the Crimestoppers crimeline, 0800 555111.
