Wellington, March 1 NZPA - Police are seeking a driver who dragged an elderly man under his car in central Christchurch last week.
The 82-year-old was dragged for about two metres along Colombo Street, outside the Ballantynes store, at 12.15pm last Wednesday, Detective Constable Tim Cummings of Christchurch police said.
The vehicle was believed to be similar to a white 1995-96 Mazda Familia.
The man received minor cuts and abrasions to both his hands and legs. He was hospitalised overnight and discharged the next day, Mr Cummings said.
The driver was believed to be aged 25- to 30 years-old, off fat build and shoulder length black hair pulled back.
He had a tattoo and was wearing a white T shirt with a pattern on it.
Police said they would also would like to speak with any witnesses.
