The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter responded this morning to two female patients in their late fifties who had been tramping at Lake Waikaremoana.

One woman had a broken arm after falling whilst tramping and the other was a diabetic who was running out of insulin.

The diabetic woman was flown out as a precaution as the rescue helicopter was at the scene.

They were airlifted from Panekiri Hutt by rescue helicopter to the Hawke's Bay Hospital.

The rescue helicopter had been tasked yesterday but the weather conditions were poor in the area and they were only able to reach the patients this morning.
