Robin Williams Donates Show Proceeds To Quake Relief

Actor and comedian Robin Williams plans to bring joy with jokes and earthquake relief with his Christchurch show this week. And Williams said all proceeds from his stand-up comedy performance, "Weapons of Self Destruction," in Christchurch on Friday will go to quake rebuilding projects -- half to the Red Cross and half to the mayoral building fund.

"It is devastating what has happened in Christchurch but from what I have learnt, the people there are incredibly resilient. The first quake of 7.1 would have been traumatic enough but I understand that since then, the people of Christchurch have experienced close to 3,000 after-shocks," Williams said.

"That is an unimaginable trauma to have to endure. I hope this donation will go some way to helping the extensive rebuilding effort in the city."

Williams will also be performing in Auckland on Saturday.
