From the family of Edna Mae Cairns
"On behalf of Mae's family we would like to thank the wider community for their support over the last few days. It is obviously a very difficult time for us as we come to terms with Mae's death, but it is comforting to know how much other people care and are prepared to be involved.
We would particularly like to thank Scott Simpson of Karori Police who has shown great compassion in his liaison work with us. In addition we would like to thank all those involved in the very thorough search for Mae, including Wellington Police Search and Rescue, Land Search and Rescue volunteers, members of the Karori Community Patrol, volunteers from Wellington Community Response; Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt Community Response. We give heartfelt thanks that you gave so unstintingly of your time and energy.
We know Mae always felt Karori was a special place."
