Wellington, Feb 12 NZPA - Wellington and Auckland have been named among the most livable cities in the world.

Auckland came 10th in the annual survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit. Wellington came 23rd.

Vancouver in Canada was again named the top city, followed by Vienna then Melbourne.

Three other Australian cities featured in the top 10.

The bottom three cities were Harare, Zimbabwe; Dhaka, Bangladesh; and Algiers, Algeria.

The Economist's survey of 140 locations looked at stability, health care, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.

The top ten most livable cities:

10. Auckland

The bottom 10 cities were:
