It's good to see the Taupo District Council listening to the people they represent - not only the hunters but local Maori and all those concerned about the indiscriminate blanket poisoning of our lands. And time now for other local bodies to do the same.

Back in the 50s and 60s, at the height of the 70 million NZ possum population, for over a century we'd had these introduced creatures residing in our bush alongside tens of millions of native birds - and NO CANOPY COLLAPSE!

Now, fifty years later, according to DOC, etc. we still have those same 70 million possums, but sadly the birdlife is a fraction of what it used to be.

What is the difference here? 1080 Poison.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that aerial 1080 IS NOT WORKING!

How can New Zealand even hope to be "100% PURE" with these ever-increasing dumps of aerial poison over our forests, bush and farmland, into our streams and water catchments?

It's time to give pest control back to the people; get back to ground control - jobs for our people, fur for our exporters, kai for our whanau.
 
The "Poisoning Paradise" documentary shows what is really happening in our bush and beyond, along with the potential risks to exports, tourism and human health. This the information age and, rather than blindly believing that DoC/AHB, etc. are doing the best for us, New Zealanders would be wise to research these poisons for themselves.

Money has been the God of these authorities for too long. Now is the time for the "People's Truth."
