Wellington March 4 NZPA - A 16-year-old Hamilton boy was arrested for being illegally on a property -- an hour after he left the Youth Court on a slew of other charges.
The youth appeared in the court yesterday morning, where he was charged with a variety of offences including attacking someone, carrying a knife and having cannabis.
He told off by the judge.
The boy left the court with a 17-year-old associate, said Inspector Marcus Lynam community engagement manager for Waikato police.
The pair then went to a Macdonald Road house in the suburb of Glenview, where they were allegedly spotted acting suspiciously by a member of a neighbourhood watch group, who reported them to police.
Police came and arrested the pair nearby.
"Both were charged with being unlawfully on a property. The young lad appeared in front of the same judge he had appeared in front of earlier in the day, who had no hesitation in remanding him in custody," Mr Lynam said.
The 17-year-old was granted bail with strict conditions, he said.
