Telecom announced today that it would conduct an immediate review into the intermittent outage affecting 111 calls, in the greater Auckland region, for several hours early this morning
Telecom is committed to maintaining the management of 111 emergency service calls at the highest standard and ensuring New Zealanders can always contact emergency services if they need to.
The outage has highlighted some technical and escalation management issues that need to be looked into thoroughly, in partnership with the emergency services and the Ministry of Economic Development.
This review has commenced and will ensure that the public can continue to have confidence that the management and operation of the 111 service is maintained at the very highest standard.
Telecom has confirmed that all calls to 111 this morning that did not connect at the time were followed up and all genuine callers reached the emergency services that they required.
