Wellington, June 20 NZPA - Nai Yin Xue timeline:

Sept 13: Nai Yin Xue takes his daughter Qian Xun to Melbourne.

Sept 15: Xue abandons Qian Xun at Melbourne's Southern Cross railway station.

Sept 15: Xue flees to America and goes into hiding in Los Angeles.

Sept 17: Police visit Xue family home at Keystone Ave, Mt Roskill, Auckland. Xue family car parked outside.

Sept 18: Car removed for forensic study.

Sept 19: Body of An An Liu found in boot.

Sept 20: Police criticised for taking two days to find body.

Sept 20: Police confirm body is that of An An Liu and say she died a violent death.

Sept 20: Arrest warrant issued for Xue for murder and American police asked for help to hunt him down

Sept 24: US authorities go public in America in their bid for information in the hunt for Xue.

Sept 25: Qian Xun returns from Melbourne to be reunited with her maternal grandmother Liu Xiao Ping who has arrived in New Zealand from China.

Sept 26: Little Pumpkin Trust launched.

Oct 4: Family Court in Auckland allows Qian Xun to go back to China with her grandmother.

Oct 5: US Marshals offer $US10,000 reward ($NZ13,500) for information leading to capture of Xue.

Feb 23, 2008: Confirmed sightings of Xue in Texas.

Feb 29: Xue is recognised and held by a Chinese family in Georgia until police arrive and arrest him. Family is subsequently given the reward.

March 10: Xue, deported to NZ, appears in court in Auckland charged with An An Liu's murder.

Sept 4: Xue pleads not guilty to the charge at a depositions hearing.

Sept 7: Xue is committed for trial.

June 1, 2009: Xue goes on trial in the High Court at Auckland. Crown alleges he strangled Ms Liu with a neck tie before stuffing her body in the boot of his car.

June 17: Defence case opens, with only two witnesses called. Xue does not give evidence. Lawyer Chris Comeskey says Xue denies having anything to do with the murder and raises the prospect of her dying in an accident during a sex act involving the necktie with one or two unknown men.

June 20: Jury finds Xue guilty.
