A 14 year old youth will be appearing in the Youth Court at Porirua this morning facing one charge of Arson relating to the fire overnight at Titahi Bay.

All residents who were evacuated overnight can return to their homes.

The Rural Fire Service is continuing to dampen down hot spots near the houses around or near Gloaming Hill Road. They hope to have most of the hot spots dealt with by lunch time.

Police were impressed with the assistance provided by the Titahi Bay community last night to the evacuees.

No houses were damaged in the fire apart from some smoke damage.

No persons were injured in the incident.
