Transfield Services New Zealand has won four regional contracts of $1 million each (total value $4 million) with Housing New Zealand to upgrade approximately 400 houses spread across four regions - Manawatu, Wellington, Hastings and Christchurch.
Housing New Zealand has bundled the work regionally in $1 million packages, enabling smaller subcontractors to undertake the work, which maximises the economic stimulus effect in regional New Zealand.
Transfield Services will upgrade houses with renovated bathrooms, new heating and general improvements as part of the New Zealand Government's economic stimulus package.
Transfield Services' CEO Australia and New Zealand Mr Bruce James, said today: "This new work will assist Housing New Zealand to improve properties and create work for local contractors."
Transfield Services won the contract in an open tender, and will start work immediately.
