Wellington, Jan 15 NZPA - The grieving family of the New Zealand woman whose husband and two daughters died in the Haiti earthquake has confirmed only two bodies have been found so far.
Jamie Larnach and his sister Caroline said their step-sister, Emily Sanson-Rejouis was a very strong, intelligent and caring mother and will be grieving immensely at the loss of her husband Emmanuel and two children Kofie-Jade, five, and Zenzie, three.
Mrs Sanson-Rajouis and her youngest daughter Alyahna, two, are in a Dominican Republic hospital where the little girl was being treated for a broken leg.
Mr Larnach has not been able to speak with Mrs Sanson-Rejouis since the magnitude 7 quake struck on Wednesday.
He said today the family wanted privacy but would share news with the public whenever it became available.
He also said he wanted to thank people from around the world for their support, particularly New Zealand, where many people they did not know had offered to help.
It was too early to have made funeral arrangements for the family members, he said.
Mrs Sanson-Rejouis' father Roger, mother Jennie Wilson Sanson and sister Rachel left New Zealand last night for Miami, and Mr Rejouis' family members in Florida were trying to get to the Dominican Republic to support Emily and Alyahna, Mr Larnach said.
So far tens of thousands are believed to have died in the quake.
