"The public meeting on Wednesday, August 15 will be chaired by Chester Borrows MP. Tariana Turia MP has also been invited. There will be representatives from the Corrections Department and the New Zealand Police at the meeting but the names of these representatives has not yet been confirmed. Mayor Annette Main said, 'This meeting will enable our community to ask their questions directly of the people who have made this decision.'

"An extraordinary meeting of Council is being held on Thursday, August 16 at 6pm, in the Council Chamber, following a request from a public meeting attended by seven councillors. The purpose of the meeting is to consider a Council response to the release of Stewart Murray Wilson to a dwelling on 'Prison Purposes' land in Pauri Road, Wanganui."
