The Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to Wainuiomata at 10.17am today to assist a 6 month old child suffering from an allergic reaction.
The helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance (WFA) Helicopter Paramedic on board, responded to an address in Wainuiomata where the Fire Service had established a landing area. Upon our arrival Fire Service personel were attending to an infant who had suffered an allergic reaction to his milk formula.
The baby and his mother were transported to the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where he is currently being further assessed and treated.
