Women's Public Loos Spy Jailed

Wellington, Feb 13 NZPA - A serial Peeping Tom has been jailed for spying on women in public loos.

Porirua District Court was told yesterday that Richard Ford made holes in walls of toilets in central Wellington to observe women using them.

The 29-year-old from Cannons Creek, Porirua, pleaded guilty to unlawfully being in a building, intentional damage by making holes in walls, and offensive behaviour.

He was jailed in 2007 for two years and three months for making intimate visual recordings.

This was reduced to home detention by the Court of Appeal which warned him if he reoffended he could expect the court to take a "very firm line indeed with him".

Jailing him for four months yesterday, Judge Geoff Ellis told him: "You can't say you were not warned."
