Wellington, Dec 27 NZPA - An 11-year-old motocross rider was seriously injured when he fell from his bike and was hit by another rider in Matata in the Bay of Plenty this morning.

The boy was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital where he received treatment, before being transferred by helicopter to Starship Hospital for specialist treament this afternoon.
