Wellington Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the death of an 11 month old baby, Teegan Tairoa-Wichman.

Inquiries for the investigation will be conducted by Police on behalf of the coroner. These investigations are normal practice for incidents of this nature.

Wellington, Sept 11 NZPA - A jealous lover was today jailed for a claw hammer attack on a man who he believed to be his ex-girlfriend's new partner.

Trevor William Grindrod, 34, was sentenced at the High Court in Wellington to seven years and nine months imprisonment.
