Research based at The University of Auckland's Liggins Institute has won funding from a joint New Zealand - Singapore research initiative into metabolic disease.

More than NZ$1.3 million has been awarded by the Health Research Council of New Zealand (HRC) and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR, Singapore) to support research into metabolic disease through a joint research initiative.

Victoria University of Wellington will confer honorary degrees on Richard Carey, an international civil servant, and Anthony Reid, a prominent historian on Southeast Asia.
