Rotorua public and international visitors to Rotorua experienced a unique festival on Sunday, 28 February 2010. It was celebrated with much fanfare by covering coloured powder and water on each other, and dancing to folk music and songs.
Hindu Council of New Zealand is now introducing the Festival of Colours (Holi) to Rotorua public for the first time on Sunday, 28 February 2010. After Deepawali, Holi is the second most important festival of India.
The Rotorua Deepawali Festival 2009 was officially opened by His Worship the Mayor, Kevin Winters JP, by lighting the lamp on Saturday, 7th November 2009 at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre.
