Four candidates to contest Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Ward By-election

Four candidates will contest the Far North District Council Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Ward By-election early next year.

Nominations for the one vacancy closed at noon today. The candidates are:

Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Ward electors will receive voting documents for the postal ballot from Friday 26 January 2018.

Electors can return their voting documents by post or hand-deliver them to the Far North District Council’s Kerikeri Service Centre during normal office hours between Friday 26 January and Friday 16 February 2018.

The Procter Library in Kerikeri will be able to accept voting documents between 9am and 12 noon on Saturday 17 February 2018, the final day of the by-election.

People can enrol as a residential or ratepayer elector until Friday 16 February 2018.

Those who live in the area can enrol or update their details on the Electoral Commission’s Residential Roll by visiting their local post shop. They can also phone 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56) or go to to enrol online.

People who live outside the area, but who pay rates in the Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Ward, can enrol on the Ratepayers Roll. Enrolments can be made at Council offices, via the Council’s website or by phoning the Electoral Office, Far North District Council on 0800 922 822.
