Representation Review - reminder to have your say

Feedback on the representation review currently underway closes on 19 January and Clutha District Council is still keen to hear from you.

The review is being carried out because we are required to assess our representation arrangements before the 2019 local body elections.

Currently we have a Mayor elected by all the voters in the district and 14 councillors elected by voters in seven wards. We also have two community boards, one for West Otago and the other for the Lawrence-Tuapeka Ward, each with 6 members.

So, this review is your chance to tell us what you think about the number of councillors we have, whether they should be elected by wards and what should happen to our two community boards.

This is an initial feedback round and the information you give us now will be taken into account when we put together a formal statement of proposal for future arrangements. This will be released for formal submissions on 28 March 2018.

All the information, including online submission forms and a discussion document (designed to give you more information about the review as well as examples) is available on the consultation page of our website -

Hard copies are available at Council offices and service centres.

Feedback closes 19 January 2018.
