Hon Andrew Little to visit Australia for Ngapuhi hui

Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations Andrew Little will hui with members of Ngāpuhi in Ahitereiria (Australia) next week to continue discussions on the Ngāpuhi Treaty settlement progress. It is estimated that more than 25,000 Ngāpuhi are currently living in Australia.

"In my hui with Ngāpuhi around Aotearoa New Zealand I have heard how important it is for the iwi to have kanohi ki te kanohi engagement with me as Minister, while we walk together toward a just Treaty settlement.

"It is crucial that Ngāpuhi in Ahitereiria have that same opportunity.

"In Ahitereiria, Ngāpuhi leaders will discuss a proposal for an evolved mandate negotiation structure. I will be there to hear feedback from Australia-based Ngāpuhi and to answer their questions directly," Andrew Little said.

The Ahitereiria hui are:

- Sydney: 22 September, 12.00pm-2.00pm - Te Wairua Tapu Wharekarakia, Redfern;

- Brisbane: 22 September, 6.30pm-8.30pm - Pullman Brisbane Airport Hotel;

- Perth: 23 September, 2.30pm-4.30pm - Ken Jackman Hall, Darius Wells Library, Kwinana.
