Auckland Transport is trying to pull a Hollywood in justifying the outrageous $40,000 fee for Zoe Bell to appear in one of its social media videos says the Auckland Ratepayers’ Alliance.

The Alliance's spokesperson, Jo Holmes, says, "Auckland Transport needs to stick to its lane and stop trying for Emmy Awards with our money."

"Creating flashy ads is not core Council business - it is yet another example of the Council trying to duplicate central government."

"Auckland Transport seem to think that road safety is measured by the number of hits on YouTube. It isn’t, and the video is precisely the sort of waste that candidates at this year’s elections should be promising to eliminate."

"The only people who can justify this sort of spending are Auckland Council, and those who work in Hollywood. That says it all."
