Family First NZ says that Child Youth and Family (CYF) should save the cost of the 20,000 booklets 'marketing' the anti-smacking law and re-direct those resources to better targeting and monitoring at-risk families.
"The real issue is that both the police and CYF, with nine reports to date, are trying to market a law which has been misrepresented by its promoters as to its effect, is confusing to most parents, and fails to address the real causes of child abuse," says Bob McCoskrie, National Director of Family First NZ.
"And the Prime Minister is representing the law differently to the way the police and CYF are applying it. We know from the just-released police report that hundreds of families are receiving official police warnings and also intervention from CYF for smacking or minor acts of physical discipline."
'This approach doesn't reassure us as parents. We want to be allowed to raise law-abiding and positive members of society and the real abusers targeted and dealt with. CYF should focus their time and resources to pay attention to the real issues of family dysfunction and breakdown, substance abuse, and mental health issues," says Mr McCoskrie.
"A law that requires so many compromises, guidelines, helplines, reviews, and parent education could be easily fixed with a simple amendment - the Boscawen amendment. That's what parents deserve.

And now Unlucky New Zealand faces exactly the same 400% projected rise in Adult violence that came with the same Stupid law in Sweeden when 13 odd years later the first generation of "Do as they like Consequence less Brats" graduated into the legal system's reach for the first time.
Sweedens fool hardy numbers speak for themselves.
Brace for a wild ride NZ.....and a whole lot more junk propoganda trying to explain away violence increasing for anything but reasons of no consequence for actions.
-Lack of early child hood govt intervention,
-Lack of Shrinks to fix your kids minds,
-Too many kids being robbed of self esteem by being blamed for their actions.
-Not enough money spent on rehbilitation programs and social junk scienctists.
Any reason but.....
Wrong actions reap bad consequences,

And any authority in your kids life but you the parent who gives life to them and toils for them more than any interfeering incompetent government meddler ever could.

CYF is focusing on the real problem: all of the above can be attributed to abusive, spanking parents. Do a little reading. Spanking is a cause of violence in societies, not a cure. Nothing good comes to the child from hitting. It's a lazy, unimaginative, hateful way to raise a child. Why do you hate your children?

Do a little reading in a brain dead NZ university's womens/social sciences studies department and all you will find is myths disinformation bigotry predjudice and anything that will free women from having a happy family and kids.
Do a little reading of facts and the view will be a lot clearer and more logical.

13 odd years after spanking was banned...when they for the first time had rules with consequence. What sort of violence?
Not kids being spanked or increased reporting of it. General societal convictable crimes.
Common sense does work and legitimate force from legitimite authorities can be understood by even a child...but not one of the dreaming hippy noddies that are accountable for the already rising violence in NZ.. Schools too are experiencing a dramatic increase in violence to teachers from the new arrogance...
