Hamilton City Council is today flying its civic flag at half mast to acknowledge the passing of the kaumatua to the office of the Mayor.
Moko Hamiora had been the kaumatua to the Council since 2009 and was highly respected as an advisor to the Mayor’s office.
Mayor Julie Hardaker said, "Moko was a wise and gentle man who gave trusted and thoughtful advice to me and my predecessors. Our thoughts are with Moko’s family, his friends and to those who will sadly miss him - as we all will."
A Council delegation will be attending his tangi in Whatawhata tomorrow afternoon.
