Maori, Labour And Mana Parties In Live TV By-Election Debate

In the lead-up to this month’s Tai Tokerau by-election, Maori Television’s flagship current affairs show Native Affairs is hosting a live debate on Monday night.

The invitation-only debate takes place at the Northland College hall at Kaikohe from 8.30 to 9.30pm and broadcasts live and exclusive on Maori Television.

The NATIVE AFFAIRS debate features three main candidates contesting the Tai Tokerau seat at the 25 June by-election – Mana Party’s Hone Harawira, Labour’s Kelvin Davis and Maori Party’s Solomon Tipene with Native Affairs anchor Julian Wilcox chairing the forum.

“Monday’s debate is an opportunity for the three main candidates contesting the seat to present their views to constituents so people can make an informed decision before going to the polls,” says Mr Wilcox

“We invite Tai Tokerau voters to watch this NATIVE AFFAIRS live broadcast on Monday night.”

Producer Colin McRae says the event features a live invitational audience – each candidate was given an equal number of invites to send to supporters.

In addition to the live debate NATIVE AFFAIRS announces the results of the next NATIVE AFFAIRS political poll.

Mr McRae says the poll asks participants about their preferred candidate for the Tai Tokerau electorate and their preferred party vote were there to be a general election now.
